Creating Gradients IN Sai by SuperMarioSweetie Creating Gradients IN Sai by SuperMarioSweetie
It would be nice to credit or share this with others just to spread the information. It's always good to help a fellow artist out ^__^

another tip is, you can also do this to create STRIPES. Like by using the pen tool with the hardest setting, and creating circles vertically

So, how would you apply this to putting gradients on things like the crescent you see in anime eyes or in shading? Nice tut btw :)

With the transform tool you can apply it to any layer, so put the anime eye on one layer and gradient it with the transform tool.  Can take a bit of work and effort but can be done

Can't you just blend it together?

:iconsupermariosweetie:
SuperMarioSweetie Featured By Owner Jul 25, 2012  Hobbyist Filmographer
See, I'm sure a lot of us have tried this method. Either, is has come out looking, blotchy, uneven, or not a smooth enough transition. Not saying you can't blend and get a good result. I just feel like this is much more clean and even in my opinion :P

when you said 'most soft option', do you mean soft in density?

:iconsupermariosweetie:
SuperMarioSweetie Featured By Owner Jul 13, 2012  Hobbyist Filmographer
Ah the like in the edge shape. But depending you can change density also depending on the look your going for.
